Note: Swine flu update: while the "swine flu" has caused a drastic reduction in tourism to Oaxaca, as of May 8, 2009, nobody we know in Oaxaca knows or has heard of anyone they know with swine flu. Warm, dry air is not very conductive to flu transmission. As a tourist, you can and should be much more concerned about more basic things like sunburn and safe drinking water than swine flu.
